With over 28 years of distinguished legal practice, Sir Nayan Chand Bihani has established a strong presence before the Calcutta High Court and was designated Senior Advocate in November 2024. His practice is centred on constitutional writ jurisdiction under Article 226, with extensive experience in environmental, service, municipal, educational and electoral laws, as well as Public Interest Litigation.

Over the years, he has represented petitioners, government authorities and statutory bodies, including the West Bengal Pollution Control Board, State of West Bengal, several Municipalities, Municipal Corporations, educational institutions and universities, the State of Bihar and the Odisha Pollution Control Board in certain matters.

His professional journey includes appearances in several notable and complex litigations, ranging from environmental and firecracker regulation matters to cases concerning IPL matches at Eden Gardens and Panchayat & Municipal Elections. His extensive courtroom experience offers students a valuable opportunity to understand constitutional law and writ practice beyond the textbooks.
